Jira PDF export
Jira Cloud does not have a “download this JQL as a PDF” button next to the CSV export. What it has is a print view, and a Word export that Atlassian tells you to keep small. Both are useful. Neither is a file you can schedule.
Print list and Print details
On the same export search results page, Atlassian documents Print list and Print details under the Export menu. Print list is the compact list. Print details is the longer view of each work item. The page says you can choose the search results as a PDF or save them to your drive. In practice that PDF is produced by the browser’s print dialog (Destination: Save as PDF), not by a Jira file builder with page numbers and a logo.
Atlassian does not publish a row cap for Print list or Print details on that page. A long search becomes a long print job. Columns and wrapping are whatever the print stylesheet does. There is no progress bar and no second file when the search is huge.
Word is the export with a published size hint
Export Word includes the description, comments, and the rest of the work item, not only the columns in the list. Atlassian’s recommendation, in the same document, is to export around 150 work items at a time. That sentence is about Word, not about CSV and not about the print view. Treat 150 as their guidance for the Word file, not as a secret PDF limit.
What people try instead
- Open a single work item and print that page. Fine for one issue. Useless for a filter of hundreds.
- Export CSV or Excel CSV and let another program make the PDF. You now have two tools, and you still hit the 10,000-issue navigator cap.
- Confluence’s PDF export. That exports a Confluence page, not a Jira search, unless you have already copied the issues onto a page.
- Automation. A rule can comment, email, or transition. It does not render a PDF of the search. See schedule Jira exports.
What Haulcopy’s PDF is
Haulcopy builds a landscape A4 PDF of the fields you picked. Text wraps instead of being cut with an ellipsis. Pages are numbered. You can set a title and a PNG logo under 80 KB. An empty title uses the JQL, shortened. The same 10,000-issue split used for Excel and CSV applies to PDF: a larger search becomes separate files.
The PDF path that was actually run was 1,000 issues, on 17 Oct 2026, on a developer site. Do not read that as a measured 10,000-issue PDF. The 10,000 × 50 run that day-before was Excel.
The file is downloaded from History inside Jira and expires after seven days. It is not emailed. There is no template language and no watermark, including on the free allowance of up to 10 Jira users. How to set the title and logo.
